The following scheme shows an aluminium profile with thermal break :

An aluminium profile insulated with thermal break (polyamide or other plastic) consists of an assembling process of three parts :

a. upper aluminium extrusion

b. thermal break(s)

c. lower aluminium extrusion

Generally three operations are required for the assembly:

1. the swallow's tail groves from both the upper- and lower     extrusions must be notched to prevent a lateral shifting during     the heat treatment after the painting process, and to get high     push-off values;

2. the aluminium extrusions must be assembled with the strips;

3. finally the aluminium teeth, forming the exterior parts of the     swallow's tails, must be rollformed to lock the strips. A certain     stress must be permanently introduced during this final stage to     achieve high push-off values and as such a strong composite.
